The Massacre on Midway was a fast paced and intensely violent conflict that occurred between [[Scæþing]] and the [[Magical Empire]] originally over land claims on [[Midway]].

==History==
The Massacre on Midway was preceded by rounds of escalation and a breakdown in relations between the belligerent nations of [[Scæþing]] and the [[Magical Empire]], which exploded into all out war.
===Heightened Tensions===
Tensions began to mount when both [[Scæþing]] and the [[Magical Empire]] made claims on Midway, a valuable midpoint landmass between the nations. Villages were constructed and populated by both factions, with [[Scæþing]] specifically upgrading an old fort from the [[Scæþing Punitive War]]. These competing claims went seemingly unnoticed, and there was peace for a few days. Eventually, internal conflicts within the Scæþing Empire brought the faction to the edge of the civil war. The current consul of Scæþing, jusipat, made the decision to divert the national focus towards Midway in order to distract from the precarious domestic situation. Thus began planning for a war of conquest for the Magical Empire's claims on Midway.

===Whisperings of War and First Contact===
Wikaros, a member of the Magical Empire faction, was informed of the internal conflicts within Scæþing. He made an attempt to vote in an election there, arriving unsolicited and attempting to destabilize Scæþing. When he arrived, he was immediately killed and he was informed that Scæþing was planning on declaring war on the Magical Empire.
A few hours passed, tensions boiling for a large-scale conflict between Scæþing and the Magical Empire. Citizens of the Magical Empire were informed of the impending conflict, namely baconpancakes36 and rice_fish. Members of Scæþing finalised their preparations as well.

The original terms of the war were to attempt to be as non-destructive as possible, and to keep the conflict on Midway exclusively.

== The War Begins==
The Scæþing Republic's forces began preparing on the southern portion of Midway for an invasion of the rest of the island. Mercenary bcfoss was hired to Scæþing's cause at this time.
=== Scæþing Occupation of Midway ===
The conflict began as Scæþing forces from Southern Midway occupied the Magical Empire's Midway City without bloodshed. Scæþing's forces, bcfoss, Cflip_, jusipat and Kjolt947, then awaited a possible counterattack from Magical Empire forces, after having constructed battlements in Midway City.
Mines were laid and stockpiles of ammunition and additional muskets prepared. jusipat, emergency wartime Consul, began scouting missions via boat in the ocean between Midway and the Magical Island in an attempt to devine the Magical Empire's plans. jusipat ended up spotting and driving off a scouting attempt made by Wikaros with musket-fire.

===Magical Counter-Attack===
Eventually, baconpancakes36 decided to join the server and use his blood magic "flight" to go on a scout run to Midway, where Scæþing was already waiting, with their hired man bcfoss and many land mines on the beaches surrounding the villages. Cflip spotted him landing on the roof of the church tower on the Magical Empire village and decided to shoot at him, landing a few hits, aggravating him to shoot back. Cflip was killed swiftly via enchanted bow and baconpancakes36 headed back to the Magical Empire to regroup and begin preparations. rice_fish went to Midway of his own accord and began fighting without informing his faction until a few minutes later. He was caught and found in the tallest tower in the occupied Midway City but managed to escape. Saucy_Tacos and Wikaros began heading over to Midway while baconpancakes36 prepared a large amount of explosive charges.
====Battle of Midway City====
The Magical Empire's primary forces landed to the east of Midway City, and gave battle with Scæþing's occupation forces; namely Kjolt947, cflip, juspat, and the mercenary bcfoss. The Scæþing forces relied heavily on the ranged power of their muskets, and performed well inside the dense urban environment of Midway City. However, as the battle contiued, it became apparent that baconpancakes36's mystical powers were overwhelming and could not be countered by the occupiers.

The combined forces of the Magical Empire's counterattack drove the occupiers not only from Midway City, but also past the pre-war frontier and southward towards Scæþing's settlement on the island. In response, jusipat, enraged at seeing baconpancakes36's overwhelming "godly" power and, in his view, a complete lack of respect for conventional military doctrine, informed his faction they would now pursue a [[Dirt Warfare]] approach to the war. This was to be done by attempting to destroy baconpancakes36's belongings, in order to demoralize him. While the battle on Midway began to die down as Scæþing forces began guerilla tactics, jusipat snuck into baconpancakes36's base on the Magical Empire's home island and to wreak havoc. Furthermore, he hid his refined storage drives in a chest for potential ransome. Kjolt947 too followed jusipat to the Magical Empire's home territories, with other Scæþing forces still holding on to the southern portion of Scæþing Midway.

===Escalation of the War===
Soon after discovering Kjolt947 on the Magical Empire's soil, baconpancakes36 informed the faction that the conflict had extended beyond Midway, and chaos not unlike [[The Calamity]] ensued. Both factions destroyed innumerable structures, boating straight past eachother and briefly skirmishing across all theatres of the war. With fire and explosives almost every player's belongings and properties were destroyed on each side. Notably: Saucy_Tacos's wooden house, baconpancakes36's base, Wikaros's base, many town buildings in Scæþing, Fort Scæþing, Kjolt947's house, and many others. baconpancakes36 would occasionally spot and hunt down members of Scæþing as he encountered them during his rampage.

==== The Battle of Scæþing ====
As baconpancakes36 ravaged Scæþing and Midway, Scæþing was beset upon by the soldiers of the Magical Empire in full force.
Kjolt947, Cflip_ and jusipat managed to use the extensive turtle tunnels dug under Scæþing as a refuge to hide vast amounts of Scæþing's wealth and storage drives. Furthermore, from these tunnels, they would suddenly emerge to ambush the attackers plundering the fortress. This strategy was unable to turn the tide of the war, and eventually the fighters were rooted out and destroyed. Simultaneously, bcfoss managed to use the dense urban environment of Scæþing City to avoid detection from the invaders, and to launch sudden guerilla attacks. These attacks did not affect the outcome; the total pillaging of Scæþing. In order to turn the tide of the war, jusipat attempted in vain to employ high-voltage cables to electrocute the invaders. This proved impossible as Scæþing City's power plant was destroyed, and the power grid to the fortress had already been severely damaged.

Due to the complete collapse of organised resistance on Scæþing and breakdown of order even in the Magical Empire's army, Wikaros sensed an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and secured a ship at the lower city harbour to use for storing his loot. He then walked the streets of the lower city searching building by building for any valuables to pillage as well as stripping the numerous bodies strewn about the streets from baconpancakes36's rampage of their armour and weapons. It is likely that this was also when he stole all the gold blocks out of Kjolt947's floor which in the future would be used to forge a set of ornamental gold armour for the Heavenly General and Emperor of Tianchao. Having Nearly filled the ship with tons of war material, expensive looking items, and industrial parts from across the city, Wikaros ventured back into the lower city for one last look to check if he had left anything of value behind, but during his absence bcfoss managed to steal the boat full of supplies and flee north. He would take it far into the ocean under the pursuit of Wikaros. jusipat trailed Wikaros and harried his ship with musket fire, distracting him and eventually forcing him to give up.

Eventually, after war exhaustion grew on both sides from the complete destruction and pillaging of both nations, talks of peace began to be discussed.

===Peace and Aftermath===
The peace treaty known as [[Ricky]] (''The Black Peace'') was signed at the Tuff House in Scæþing.
====New States====
The outcome of this war fragmented the playerbase on the server, with many players spreading out over the world to form new nations.

The '''Metal War''' was a conflict between Eorzea and Canna Cabana that began with a series of raids by Eorzea, the first of which was initiated to take Canna Cabana's lead stockpile.

== The Raids ==
The first Eorzean raid began the day before the war, comprising jusipat and Wikaros. They set out to take a large quantity of lead from Cflip_, who had just completed 3x ore processing from Mekanism. Entirely unprepared for combat after the past few days of peace on the server, Cflip_ placed the ~55 lead blocks along the beach as the opponents flew in via plane. He also discovered that open nether portals summoned monsters from Doom into the world, so he constructed multiple nether portals to increase the number of threats present in the area in an attempt to make the raiders' stay unpleasant. After the raiders landed via plane, there was little retribution from Cflip_, but he later found out how to craft more sniper rifle ammo and there was a minor shootout. In the end, Eorzea victoriously got away with the lead blocks.

Eorzea then flew to the Atlantuk to raid Kjolt947 for a single block of cactus.

The next day, members of Eorzea planned another raid, this time for Cflip_'s iron supply. Due to the newly presented threat, Canna Cabana began to militarize and Cflip_ built an atomic disassembler and an assault rifle to fend off the raiders. The nether portals from the previous raid were moved, and the apartment building in western Canna Cabana was turned into a deadly containment facility that was full of Doom monsters. jusipat and Wikaros arrived in Canna Cabana via plane once more and landed along the western beach. The forces of Eorzea then took cover in the dense forest on the western side of the river, while Cflip_ guarded the east side. Gunfire was exchanged, but no major damage was done to either side. Cflip_ eventually crossed the bridge and shot down Wikaros in the street behind the apartment building, and then shot down jusipat, who was swimming across the river.

== Coastal Siege ==
Eorzea would not give up with this defeat, and the raids became a full blown war. They recruited Kjolt947 from the Atlantuk, who had been raided the previous day, to join their attack against Canna Cabana. bcfoss promised to join up with Cflip_ later as long as he could protect the factory long enough for him to arrive. jusipat and Wikaros retrofitted an Eorzian ship with beds, supplies, and cannon.

When the Eorzean vessel first arrived, Cflip_ perched on the roof of the factory building, firing sniper shots at the opponents on the deck of the ship. The ship moved into position in front of the factory and began to fire, destroying most of the walls of the upper floors. Cflip_ continued to fire sniper rounds, now from the base of the building, but eventually he ran out of sniper ammo and instead guarded the basement of the factory, where all of the loot was. The attackers returned fire with relatively inaccurate submachine-gun fire from makeshift cover that had been hastily placed on the side facing the factory. The siege continued, with jusipat swimming to the coast and breaking holes in the side of the building. This caught Cflip_ by surprise, but he was still able to fend off jusipat with the assault rifle.

After the cannon fire had caused considerable damage to the exterior of the mostly empty building, more combatants disembarked and swam to the coast. Cflip_ took advantage of their lackluster position in the water and mowed them down with the assault rifle, but because they had beds on the ship they were able to keep respawning and attacking immediately while Wikaros continued the bombardment. Kjolt947 was able to sneak past the gunfire and infiltrated the top floor of the factory using an ender pearl. He got very close to Cflip_, but Cflip_'s atomic disassembler made quick work of him. Cflip_ then went on the offensive, reducing the cannon to several iron ingots with his assault rifle before diving into water and obliterating the fighters with his atomic disassembler. Cflip_'s advance caused a panick on the ship as most of the weapons and supplies had been lost in the strait attacking the factory, Wikaros hurriedly tried to craft the iron ingots from the cannon into swords to fend off the boarding but it was too little too late. Cflip_ reached the vessel, and after fighting off its defenders at the top of the ladder he boarded the ship but before he could prevent escape, Wikaros quickly assembled the ship, leaving Cflip_ in the water, and was routed from the battle, Cflip_ thereafter claimed victory in the battle.

```Village Raids``` often referred to as Slave Raids are a common practice used by most nations and players of most servers. Mainly employed as a quick way to gain useful resources including food, equipment, and villagers. Village raids have been present in nearly every server due to being an easy way to gain resources and to gain an upper hand.

Village raids are more common early in the server due to the abundance of untouched villages, small worlds or worlds with less villages may try to conserve villages due to villagers being much more rare and may choose to not raid villages instead.
