An island nation devoted to the study of Ars Magica.

Geography

The island was ovoid and just large enough that one could not see from one end to the other. The terrain was all within a few blocks of sea level. It was forested with magical trees, so that most of Pudimere lay beneath a canopy of leaves. A chunk error related to ongoing revisions of PrikPack resulted in a uniform wall of elevated chunks, which split the island into north and south. Pudimere was located north-west from the main continent.

History

Pudimere was not settled directly following first spawn, only being founded after the exodus from the First Fortress (for which the original name has been lost to time). bcfoss settled the southern half of the island which faced back towards the rest of civilization, planning to make the settlement a center of learning for disciples of Ars Magica. The north of the island, which lay beyond the chunk-wall, was never permanently settled but nevertheless composed a core territory of Pudimere.

Early Growth

Construction of a magical university began soon after settlement, beginning with the building containing the ritual altar. At around the same time a small port was constructed on the southern tip of Pudimere. Both structures were composed predominantly of wood, but the landscape of Pudimere remained heavily forested even in the developing south.

Potato Rebellion

Dispossessed in conflicts on the continent, nobel617 received permission to settle on the south eastern coast. Here he established a potato farm. As liege-lord, bcfoss demanded a significant cut of the harvest, which nobel617 refused to supply. When bcfoss personally arrived to collect his dues, nobel617 assaulted him.

A short-lived insurrection followed this incident, ultimately resulting in complete victory for bcfoss. nobel617 was expelled from Pudimere, once again dispossessed of all his property.

Gyven Imperator

Pudimere, as with all other independent nations of the world, unanimously hailed Gyven as Emperor, even though he had never even set foot in any of the aforementioned lands. Coinciding, or perhaps spurred on by this event, all self-proclaimed vassals of the empire began building large ships as a matter of prestige, though they were also useful for traversing the seas that isolated some provinces from the continent. Compared to the ships of nobel617 and flufyking(?), Pudimere's ship was third-rate and much smaller; this did not help it traverse the newly excavated canals of the imperial capital in First Fortress.

At some point an assassination attempt on the Emperors (or was it bcfoss's?) life occured at the Pudimere Port. The target managed to dive into the water and out swim the assailant in a protracted chase. Whether this event was related to the War of Secession is unknown.

War of Secession

When the Empire collapsed, Pudimere likely sided with the Secessionists. bcfoss was present during the decisive naval battle of the war in the straits north of First Fortress, though probably not aboard the Flagship of Pudimere.

No major engagements took place on the island, excluding the possible assassination attempt. The university might have been burned down in a loyalist raid, judging from the fact that bcfoss relocated most magic equipment into a monastic complex within the chunk-wall after the war's end.

After the war Pudimere became isolationist and closed the magic university, though nobody excluding bcfoss had ever bothered to make use of its facilities. This became the new status quo until server death.
