Techno-Gods

A term coined by bcfoss referring to players which use overpowered tech mods that no other mods can stand up against to assume disproportionate power in the server. Especially common during early PrikPack servers (see PrikPack v3, PrikPack v5, and PrikPack v6). Recent Prikpacks have seen the rise of Magic-Gods, which are essentially the same concept applied to different mods.

Speculation

There is an argument to be made that Techno-Gods (and Magic Gods) are not necessarily the result of specific mods, but are the end result of differing playstyles. For example, even in the absence of overpowered mods, the following conditions would effectively result in a Techno-God:

  1. Player(A) progresses to midgame/endgame content within their chosen mod
  2. Player(B) focuses on building or something and neglects progressing in a mod of their own
    1. Player(A) uses their power to keep (B) in the stone age forever (See PrikPack v4)
    2. Player(B) does not make serious attempts to increase their own power in relation to (A) because it's not fun to do

Note that 3.b. is inherent to the mindset of many players and exacerbates the situation when a Techno-God begins the path to Apotheosis. Logically, if a player uses an Overpowered mod and 3.a. does not occur, then all other players need only adapt to the self-evident meta either by adopting the OP mod or adjusting their playstyle accordingly. But if, for one reason or another, players are unwilling to adapt, then no amount of balancing will prevent the emergence of a Techno-God.
